Walking Dead Wednesday- The Governor!

When I was checking out the Studio Miniatures range at the start of the year, I noticed that I had missed a figure for the Walking Dead Wednesdays- the Governor himself!

Not a part of the Kickstarter which Studio Miniatures ran last year, I have finally got around to buying him and painting him. A pretty simple paint job, a combination of dark browns and blacks leaves for a menacing figure- perfectly suited to his comic book origins!

Another excellent sculpt from Studio Miniatures, plus I do have a soft spot for the Steyr rifle!

Trying to get back to more regular postings, here is hoping!

The Walking Dead Wednesday- Michonne!

Right- it might be Zombtober, but I have another Walking Dead Wednesday to put up here.

And of course, I have saved one of the most bad ass characters for last, the zombie slaying ninja, Michonne!

Another from the excellent Studio Miniatures kickstarter, she also comes with a Zomb-Michonne...

And a shot of Michonne facing off against Zomb-Michonne!

In Skirmish Outbreak, Michonne would be something like this. She has the Zombie Hunter experience package, which makes her a true force to be reckoned with in hand to hand combat!

I have also managed to complete the crawler zombie from the kickstarter too, which was the inspiration for one of my Celt-zombies for Zombtober!

Right- I really need to get back to painting my Zombtober entries if I am going to make the Sunday deadline!

Walking Dead Wednesday- Hershel!

Right- back with another Walking Dead Wednesday.

This time, we are looking at the wise patriarch of the Greene family, Hershel!

Again another of the awesome Studio Miniatures kickstarter series, and sporting a very nice crutch to make up for his phantom limb.

I have painted him in a pretty drab combination of colours, which I quite like as the whole combination.

In Skirmish Outbreak, Hershel would be something like... (I know he is the opposite of a Youth, but his stats fit!)

No Zombie-Hershel, guess Michonne got to him fast enough...

But there is one of the freebie zombies from the kickstarter!

You walk outside, you risk your life. You take a drink of water, you risk your life. You go to a strip club, you risk your life. Nowadays you breathe and you risk your life. You don’t have a choice. The only thing you can choose is what you’re risking it for.

Right, so another Walking Dead Wednesday done. I only have Michonne to go, and I am not too sure what I will do after that!

Now, it is now Zombtober. I have been informed this is something I should participate in. I have been looking at your blogs (yes you!) to gain ideas. A plan has been formed. More info tomorrow....

Walking Dead Wednesday- Sasha!

Right, we are back with another Walking dead Wednesday, another great sculpt from Studio Miniatures.

This time we have Sasha, Tyrese's sister. In the last season she is a crack shot with her rifle, and maybe isn't doing so well with this whole apocalypse thing. She seems to be taking on the role which Andrea played in the comics, which I don't think is a bad thing.

And here is the Studio Miniatures version!

I promise she is less shiny in person.

And Sasha is lucky (?) enough to have a zombie version as well...

And the two side by side:

In Skirmish Outbreak, I would think Sasha would be something like...

right, there you have it, another one done ON TIME! Which is exciting.

Next week? Hershel I think. And as for this weeks survivor? Well, firstly there are more than one, and secondly, they are on the painting table!

Walking Dead Wednesday- Tyrese!

And we are back for another Walking Dead Wednesday!

After last week's departure into the realms of large metal vehicles, it is time to bring it back to the minis from the Studio Miniatures kickstarter.

This week, we have Tyrese. The hammer wielding, former football player who Rick and the gang meet on their travels. Now, the one thing I do have to add before posting the miniature is that I lost the original right hand, so instead had to make one from a spare Black Tree Designs casualty figure, with a new wrist sculpted from greenstuff. Probably a good lesson in being careful when looking at new shiny miniatures!

Anyway, back to the cool stuff. Here is Tyrese:

And in Outbreak, Tyrese has the following stats.

Right, that is it for another day, it is time to:

Walking Dead Wednesday- a Tank!

And now for something not from Studio Miniature's excellent kickstarter, this time we have Daryl's nemesis from the Prison, the M60 tank!

CLIPS OF THE WALKING DEAD ARE PROPERTY OF AMC, TAKEN WITHOUT PERMISSION

And for the clip of Daryl destroying it, head to youtube here...

The tank is an M60, an older warhorse of the Cold War era, destined for the battlefields of Europe that never quite eventuated. They saw limited combat use, I would say the one above was a training tank (they were retired from that in '05). Anywho, my one is a cheap Academy M60A1 from Academy, which I bought off eBay aaaaaages ago, because I thought it was an M48 for Vietnam gaming. Oops! So since it is clearly NOT an M48 Patton, but instead is an M60 Patton (see my issue?), I left it in its box in the cupboard filled with all the other unmade model kits.

Not sure what inspired me to pull it out, but it was quick to assemble, and a quick green paint job was easy enough to do too. A couple of decals on the barrel was all I needed to add to get the right effect. And there you have it, one tank, ready to invade a prison!

And of course, we need the shot of Daryl v Tank....

Rules wise, I am just finishing up a scenario using the tank, watch out for that next week!

So there you have it, another Walking Dead Wednesday (WDW, it is too long to type)done. Next week? Back to Studio Miniatures with Tyrese....

Walking Dead Wednesday- Daryl!

Right, back again and I think I *might* just have my painting mojo back.

Here we have Daryl Dixon, the fan favorite of the TV series, but someone who has not (and I hope never will!) made an appearance in the comic series.

Miniatures wise, Daryl is another from the excellent Studio Miniatures kickstarter, with the exception that I got our my green stuff and added the poncho he wore (albeit briefly) during the series. Mainly to add some colour into a figure which was going to be wearing a whole lot of black. Plus it adds to his skill, right?

As for the result? I am pretty darn keen on the effect, the pattern was surprisingly easy, and I am keen on how it has come out. Daryl's face is one of the better one's I have managed to do, so overall, he is one of my favourites so far!

No Zomb-daryl. Clearly he is just too good at not getting bitten to warrant a zombie version :)

In Skirmish Outbreak, Daryl is an Elite, armed with a Crossbow and the Bow Hunter skill. Which basically makes him a badass, crossbow hunting, zombie killing machine. So... pretty much Daryl in the show then!

Anyway, back to painting. Next up on the Walking Dead Wednesday? Daryl's nemesis. But that is all I will give you....

Walking Dead Wednesdays- Maggie!

And we are back!

Apologies for the week off last week, there has been stuff going on with family, which just crushed any motivation that I had to paint/write/anything. Through that now tho, so back to your scheduled programming!

Since it is Wednesday, it is time to have a look at another of Studio Miniatures' excellent Walking Dead sculpts.

Maggie is a very dynamic pose, much more so than Rick, Glenn or Carl. While I do love the pose, it presented a little bit of annoyance to me when basing (I don't use slotta bases). Nothing that a little pin through the foot can't fix (sorry Maggie!). Colours wise, I wanted the same black Riot Gear as Glenn, the brown pants/black boots seemed like a horse riding/farm girl sort of look, plus a green shirt because, well, bright colours are fun! I like that the pistol looks a bit oversized, it gives a nice contrast to the figure.

In Outbreak, I think Maggie is another Average Joe, armed with a pistol, knife and wearing Body Armour. Her stats look like this:

And of course, we also have Zomb-maggie!

Glenn and Maggie, fighting for each other...

And then reunited...

Right, back on this painting band wagon. Next week's Walking Dead Wednesday is mostly done, and it is the fan favourite Daryl!
