Different Zombies- Police Zombies!

Before we get onto this post, I have put a better picture of Sgt Angle and Officer Frost onto the last post.

Anyway, so far all of my Zombies have been plastics, either from Studio Miniatures, or conversions using Wargames Factory plastics.

While I am really happy with how those are going, and I have a fair few more ideas with what I will do with them yet, I did spot these while surfing the interwebs, and couldn't resist adding them to the horde.

The figures come from Cold War Miniatures. The casting quality is pretty good, not many mould lines to deal with. The sculpting has good details, but I think the proportions are off. Long bodies, short legs and just a few pieces of odd details. But, in saying that, they have got a certain charm to them, and I am really happy with how the look when painted up!

The three Police Officers. Two male, and a female officer on the right.

The two SWAT Officers.

This is how the stack up next to a Studio Miniatures plastic zombie, and against one of my converted zeds:

Officers Daniels and Decarlo responded to an officer down call, not expecting this!

And as for the whole horde so far? Looks like this...

And with these Police Zombies done, that brings Police Month to a close. What did you think? Did you like the idea of theming a month purely on a single topic? Should I do another? I have a little backlog of survivors, so it will be random survivors for the next month, but I am very open to ideas for theming months, if people have any ideas! What should I look at doing next time to make it better?

Chris

  1. I enjoyed Cop Month, not a bad idea to theme some months for painting... It was cool you managed some police themed zombies as well. I could certainly see some themes going forward - gang members, military, etc. Maybe as you develop an idea, spend a month on figs?

Either way, I love seeing your progress, keep up the great work!

    1. Thanks!

Military came to mind as well, I have got a couple of ideas with what to do there. Gang members is a good call, any other ideas?

  4. Anything that gives you the impetus to get figures painted (or anything else really) can only be a good thing !
I like the idea of a themed month, but I'd soon run out of themes I reckon.
Gangs, Military, Chain gangs, Grekwood' supermarket staff, cheer leaders, halloween, sportmen, clowns hospital staff, firecrews, suits (MIB), corporate mercs, cultists, protestors. maybe as Ideas ?
Survivours or zombies or both ?
Love the zombie cops btw (I think I've got just the one !)

    1. Absolutely, anything to get me painting is a good thing- That was the whole impetus behind the blog in the first place!

I don't think I will theme every month, as you say I may run out of themes. I think I will aim to have it as Survivors, and hopefully Zombies too. Just to keep completing both of those. I have lots of ideas for single figures, but there is some appeal to me in focusing my attention on single themes, only for a month. I couldn't handle a whole year of only cops!

Zombified supermarket staff would continue my Hot Fuzz theme, better have a look at Grekwood!

Halloween costumes for October? That is an awesome idea. So doing that!

  5. I like those police zombies from Cold War Minis. Their zombie range is very impressive. I don't mind if you pick a theme a month or not. Just keep on painting and watch your horde grow.

    1. They are characterful, which is what I like about them.

Definitely going to keep painting, I started assembling the next set of zombies last night- I have to keep up the 2-1 ratio of zombies to survivors!
